Four Teams in Two Months! (Part 1)
Time flies when you're having fun ... and when we on the One Mission Society (OMS) Mexico field are busy hosting and serving with short-term teams!
Church Partners
In late February, we hosted an engage team here in Mexico City that consisted of an OMS missionary from OMS USA's Church Partners department and a pastor from northern Indiana. This pastor came to learn about OMS Mexico ministry and told us he gleaned lots of insight as he considers how he and his church are involved in missions, as well as how he can deepen discipleship in his church.

The Church Partners visitors connected with several Mexico City-based pastors and Satura Mexico volunteers to hear about their work. We also visited the basilica (far right); this was the first time I helped with parts of the tour.
Asbury University Students
In mid-March, during our first of two+ weeks back in Morelia, Michoacán, we hosted a wonderful, fun group of students from Asbury University on a team led by David, an OMS missionary and director of OMS' Asbury Student Center.
We packed a LOT into a week, including weekend camp for young adults, day camp for orphans, prayer walking and other "on-the-street" connections on a large college campus, English classes and other ministry at a fabulous place called Centro Noe, and a culture day at an island called Janitzio. Both camps were led by Satura Mexico volunteers, and we helped in a variety of ways.

The Lord graciously allowed each of the students and each of us OMS missionaries to share his love and truth with many young people through games, verses, and everyday interactions.

Because of the duration of our time away and pet-friendly accommodations, sweet Pumpkin got to come to Morelia with us! This was outside "the norm," but having her presence was a gift and made the time in Morelia more comfortable. I'm grateful I had my companion with me there!
OMS Men for Missions (MFM)
Right after the Asbury group left, we welcomed an MFM evangelism team to Morelia. One of the best parts of this team was my dad being a participant!
We served with four different churches, and we introduced MFM's evangelism method to these churches. The team members worked in groups of three (USA person, translator, and local church attender) and spent the day interacting with people in an assigned area that had been prayed over beforehand. At the end of every day, members of the team presented each church leader with evangelism materials, Bibles to give away, and the contact information of people who said yes to accepting Christ and/or wanted someone from the church to reach out to them.

Throughout our four days of evangelism, we watched the Lord allow 124 people to make decisions for Christ; 29 others expressed interest in a follow-up meeting with a pastor!
The team spent one of the days talking to people around Morelia's main square. It was so fun to see the team spread out, having Gospel-centered conversations in this lovely place!
Stay Tuned!
I will send/post the second part of this update next week. For now, praise the Lord with me for everything he did through our short-term team ministry times in Mexico City and Morelia!
